Goodbye Snapper

As you all know, our good friend "Snapper" Brown finally succumbed to illness May 27, 2007. Snapper was a great man who always had something kind to say and tried so hard to help players, volunteers and even golf course staff with the day-to-day business we all conducted. We spotlighted Snapper in the last issue of our newsletter. Snapper was an avid golfer, caddying at Bell Haven Country Club as a kid. He played baseball in the 40's and was scouted to play for the Philadelphia Athletics. WWII called to him also and he served two years with the Army instead of fulfilling his baseball dreams. After the service, Snapper worked as a Fire Fighter with the Alexandria Fire Department where he spent the next 25 years.

Snapper left his wife of 50 years, a son and daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.
